Portugal's Pollen Seasons
Tree pollen in Portugal changes through spring. Alder pollen appears in February and March, while birch pollen comes in March and April. Olive trees release pollen in April and May, and olive is most common across the whole year.
Grass pollen season in Portugal runs from May through July, with pollen measured in May, June, and July. May is the busiest month for pollen overall, so grass season begins when pollen activity is especially strong.
Weed pollen appears later in the year in Portugal. Mugwort and ragweed pollen are both measured in August and September. These late-summer plants add to the pollen in the air, which can affect people with allergies.
