In Portugal, there are different pollen seasons. Trees produce pollen from January to April. This is the first pollen season. Olive, almond, and cypress trees are some of the culprits.
From April to June, grasses produce pollen. This is the second pollen season. Many types of grasses grow in Portugal, and they all release pollen into the air.
In the summer, from June to August, weeds produce pollen. This is the third pollen season. Weeds like ragweed and sorrel are common in Portugal and release a lot of pollen.
The pollen seasons can be different from year to year. Weather conditions like rain and temperature affect how much pollen is released. Some years can be worse than others for people with pollen allergies.
