Madeira, Portugal has a subtropical climate. The island's mild weather means some plants produce pollen all year. But pollen levels increase during certain months.
February to May is peak pollen season. Eucalyptus, acacia, and palm trees release lots of pollen. Tree pollen is especially high in March and April.
Grass pollen appears in late spring. May and June see more grass pollen. Weeds and shrubs also produce pollen during this time.
October to November is another pollen peak. Some trees, like eucalyptus, produce pollen again. People notice more pollen in the air during these months.
