Pollen Count

Pollen count in Turku

Pollen allergies are a common problem in Turku, Finland. They happen when the body's immune system reacts to pollen from trees, grasses, and weeds.

There are three main pollen seasons in Turku. The first season starts in March and April with birch trees releasing their pollen. This is usually the worst season for pollen allergy sufferers.

In May and June, grasses and cereals release their pollen. This season is usually less severe than the birch pollen season. The third season starts in July and August with weeds like nettle and sorrel releasing their pollen.

Pollen counts are usually highest on warm, sunny days with little wind. Rain and cool weather can lower pollen counts. People with pollen allergies can take steps to reduce their exposure, such as staying indoors during peak pollen hours and keeping windows closed.
