Riga, Latvia has four distinct pollen seasons.
The first season starts in late March or early April with alder pollen. This pollen comes from alder trees that bloom during this time.
The second season begins in late April or early May with birch pollen. Birch pollen is one of the most allergenic pollen types. It causes strong reactions in people with allergies.
The third season starts in late May or early June with grass pollen. This pollen season is usually the longest, lasting around 2-3 weeks. The fourth and final season begins in late July or early August with ragweed pollen.
When pollen counts are high, we suggest doing these things to help with allergies, especially on windy days when pollen is flying around.
