In Wales, trees start making pollen in February. It's usually the hazel and alder trees that release pollen first. This pollen is carried by the wind, spreading everywhere.

In March and April, more trees join in. Oak, birch, and beech trees release their pollen. This means there's even more pollen in the air. It's especially bad on windy days.

Grasses start growing in May and June. They produce pollen too. This is usually the worst time for pollen counts. It's hard to avoid the pollen, even indoors.

In July and August, the pollen count starts to go down. Fewer plants are releasing pollen. By September, the pollen count is usually back to normal. The air is cleaner, and it's easier to breathe.
