In Knossos, spring pollen begins in February and lasts into April. Olive trees, plane trees, and grasses release much of the pollen then. Warm days and wind can spread it through the air. Flowers also start opening during this time.

Updated: 8/3/2026

Late spring and early summer bring more grass pollen. This often happens from May through June. Wild grasses in fields and along roads release tiny grains. Some weeds also add pollen. Dry, breezy weather can make it travel farther.

Summer pollen is usually lower in Knossos, but it does not stop completely. From July through August, olive trees may still shed some pollen in certain places. A few weeds and dry plants also release pollen. Hot weather often limits how much is in the air.

In autumn, pollen levels drop but do not disappear. From September through November, weeds such as mugwort and other late-blooming plants can release pollen. In milder areas, some grasses may still bloom. By winter, pollen is usually very low.
