In Plymouth, there are three main pollen seasons. The first is tree pollen season. It starts in late March and lasts until mid-May. Trees like oak, birch, and hazel release pollen.
The second pollen season is grass pollen season. It starts in mid-May and lasts until July. Many different types of grasses release pollen during this time. This is usually the worst season for pollen.
The third and final pollen season is weed pollen season. It starts in late June and lasts until September. Weeds like nettles and sorrel release pollen during this time.
During these seasons, people with pollen allergies need to be careful. They should stay indoors on windy days and wash their clothes after being outside. They should also keep windows closed to keep pollen out.
