Pollen allergies occur when pollen from trees, grasses, and weeds enter the air. This triggers allergic reactions in some people. Symptoms include sneezing, runny nose, and itchy eyes.
In Billund, Denmark, pollen season starts in late March with birch pollen. This pollen is highly allergenic and affects many people. Symptoms peak in early April.
In May, grass pollen becomes dominant. This pollen type is also highly allergenic and bothers many people. Grass pollen levels decrease in June.
Weed pollen, mainly from nettles and sorrel, appears in July and August. This pollen type is less allergenic, but still causes issues for some.
When pollen counts are high, we suggest doing these things to help with allergies, especially on windy days when pollen is flying around.
